Browser Compatibility

The majority of people accessing this site when it started in May 2006 were using Microsoft Internet Explorer 6. Since then a number of competitive browsers have become available and the website has seen a significant rise in the use of Mozilla Firefox, Opera, Safari & Google Chrome. Many people prefer the security (not to mention the independence of Microsoft) by using these free open-source browsers.

Internet Explorer was updated to version 7 in November 2006, to version 8 in May 2009 and to version 9 in March 2011. Most personal IE users now have one of these versions as part of the Microsoft Windows automatic updating process. Microsoft have now instigated a campaign to eradicate Internet Explorer 6 from the Internet, and many websites (including this one) have signed up to put a banner that is only visible to IE6 users strongly recommending that they upgrade as soon as possible.

It is the policy of this website to be compatible with all modern Internet browsers on all operating systems, as far as is possible without compromising the content quality. To this end, the website is coded both in XHTML 1.0 and increasingly in HTML5 & CSS3, in accordance with W3C standards.

This website has been tested on the Windows, Linux (Ubuntu), Mac and Android (mobile) operating systems, using the latest versions of the following browsers; Firefox, Opera, Chrome, Internet Explorer and Safari.
