The Ploegsteert Memorial stands in Berks Cemetery Extension is located 12.5 kilometres south of Ieper town centre and commemorates 11,447 officers and men from nearby battles, dating from every year of the war. The Memorial is a covered circular colonnade, 20 metres across and 11 metres high, enclosing an open space and is entered by an opening between two stone lions, one baring his teeth and the other looking benign. The names of the dead are carved on panels set in the walls of the colonnade.

Additional Information:

It is not known at present why James Henry was in a Scottish regiment, although his mother was born in Scotland. He was the nephew of Harry Rattle who also died in Flanders on 10 November 1917 and is commemorated on the Menin Gate Memorial.
